NORTH CARROLLTON – East Webster hit the road to play J.Z. George Friday night, hoping to capture a district win.
The Wolverines got it in a big way.
East Webster shut down the Jaguars, winning a Class 2A, Region 2 matchup 28-0.
"We've stressed all week about how we needed to win this game and build momentum," said East Webster head coach Doug Wilson. "We got something positive going (Friday)."
East Webster (4-4 overall, 1-1 in district play) got going early when Deangelo Liggins scored on a four-yard run in the first quarter.
The Wolverines stretched their lead to 14-0 in the second quarter on a Darius Dear 22-yard run.
In the third quarter, Wilbur O'Briant's 22-yard touchdown run put East Webster up 21-0 before the Wolverines capped the scoring in the fourth quarter on a 43-yard pass from quarterback Codie McKee to Brett Flora.
East Webster returns to action next week hosting Williams-Sullivan, a contest that was originally slated to be played in Durant before being changed to Cumberland.
