Art and antiques mix in historic home

For the 100 years, the Pearson Place has housed six generations of Starkville descendants. The property was purchased in 1904 and the home built in 1911 by Wiley Bartley Pearson. History and family genealogy play a huge role in the decor of this home. Current residents, Frank and Carole Davis, restored the home and have kept true to the period, decorating with antique furniture passed down through the generations. Some of Carole’s artwork is inspired by memorable people and some of her favorite antiques. As part of the restoration process, the Davis’ worked to keep the home as close to the architectural style and characteristic of the historic home. Davis’ art is an important part of her lifestyle, she has paintings throughout the home, with many stacked in closets in her upstairs art studio. Her home also features several “wo-mannequins” she decorates for the seasons. The most famous mannequins are “Dottie” and “Molly Golly” who sit on the front porch and are decorated for the seasons.
