From Staff Reports

ABERDEEN – If she didn't already know it, Starkville High head volleyball coach Lauren Love learned Thursday night that her team simply won't quit.
In a hotly-contested battle at Aberdeen, Love's Lady Yellowjackets defeated the Lady Bulldogs in five sets (23-25, 26-24, 25-14, 20-25, 15-6).
"We know every match, we have to come to play," said Love. "It started out with Aberdeen hustling and picking up a lot of the things we put at them. But we just kept our focus, point by point, and that's big on these long matches.
"It definitely speaks a lot about the character of our team that we were able to come back."
The victory moved SHS to 2-3 on the young season.
"It was a long match," said Love. "But we were very happy to be on the winning end of it."
Starkville will look to continue its winning ways on Monday when the Lady Jackets host Heritage Academy at the Starkville Sportsplex Gym.
Monday's action begins with a junior varsity match at 5:30 p.m.
