Law enforcement officials in Webster County are on the look out for a suspect who attempted an armed robbery Tuesday.
In an email, Brian Mobley, a Mississippi Highway Patrol spokesperson, said an older white male wearing a hooded, zip-up style brown sweatshirt and blue jeans approached Mantee’s Omni Bank at approximately 10:30 a.m. armed with a handgun. The suspect also concealed his face with a dark blue bandana with white flowers on it.
A teller observed the suspect as he approached the bank and alerted other employees. Employees blocked the suspect’s entrance by locking the doors as he approached.
The suspect fled the scene in a silver or gray four-door, mid-sized truck, possibly a Dodge Dakota, Mobley said.
The direction the suspect fled is unknown.
The incident is under investigation by the Webster County Sheriff’s Department with the assistance of the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation.
Law enforcement officials are seeking public help to identify the suspect. Information can be given to the WCSD by calling (662) 258-7701.
If identified, members of the public should not try and approach the suspect since he is considered armed an dangerous.
