Lady Vols drop game at Copiah

GALLMAN – The Starkville Academy softball team lost an 11-1 decision on the road to a tough Copiah Academy squad Tuesday night.
Copiah scored three runs in the first inning and kept adding to its advantage thoughout the rest of the game.
The Lady Volunteers got their only run in the second inning when Megan Picard scored on an error.
Picard had one of the two hits for SA, while Emily Gregory had the other.
Copiah had 10 hits, was issued three walks and was hit by a pitch twice.
This was the second consecutive loss for the Lady Vols, dropping their record to 6-6 this season. Starkville Academy split the final two games of its tournament on Saturday, defeating Pillow Academy 5-3, but losing to Leake 6-0.
The Lady Vols return home Thursday for a 4 p.m. game against Jackson Prep.
