July 28, 2011

For Starkville Daily News

In making her announcement for candidacy for Oktibbeha County Circuit Clerk, Teresa Davis-Roberson made the following statement:
“Hello voters of Oktibbeha County. My name is Teresa Davis-Roberson, and I am asking for your vote on Tuesday, Aug. 2, to be your next Circuit Clerk of Oktibbeha County.
“I am a native of Sturgis and have two beautiful children who are my most avid supporters — Jason Roberson, 10, and Sarah Elisa Roberson, 7. True service for me starts first with God. I am a member of First Baptist Church of Longview, under the leadership of Dr. Larnzy Carpenter, where I serve as the church secretary. I am very active in the church body and the local community.
“The very definition of community is what drives me, motivates me and pushes me with the desire to serve you, the citizens of Oktibbeha County. We are a community of believers who turn thought into action, will into initiative and dreams into reality.
“I am a graduate of Sturgis Attendance Center, Class of 1995. I received a bachelor’s degree from Mississippi State University’s School of Accountancy in May 2000.
“Currently, I am employed at Mississippi State. My present and prior employment throughout the years has provided me with extensive experience in customer service, office and asset management, data tracking and financial reconciliations.
“The Oktibbeha County Circuit Clerk’s office is bound by the laws enacted by the state legislature, the Administrative Office of the Mississippi Courts and the orders and dispositions agreed on by the state’s attorney and lawyers. The circuit clerk’s job is to accurately and completely record and secure all of the information involved in each case, to receive and distribute all of the fines and fees and to make sure all the relevant documents that have been received are in the file and ready for court. It is important that the person who is elected to this position will be able to uphold the rules and laws of the state of Mississippi that have been imposed to the Office of the Circuit Clerk. I am able to uphold the rules and regulations and remain bipartisan while doing so to the voters.
“If given the opportunity to serve as your next Circuit Clerk of Oktibbeha County, I pledge to keep pride and hope throughout our neighborhood by continuing partnerships which build successful communities. Please vote Teresa Davis-Roberson on Tuesday, Aug. 2 as your next Circuit Clerk of Oktibbeha County.”
