Gerald A. Matthews

Gerald A. Matthews, 81, passed away at his home in Starkville, on July 19, 2011.  He was retired Director of the Computing Center at Mississippi State University and attended First United Methodist Church.  He was an Air Force veteran, serving in the Korean War.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Matthews of Starkville; daughter, Beverly M. Cunningham of Hattiesburg; son, Gerald (Boo) Matthews, Jr. of Starkville; and three grandchildren, Kenley Smith, Kara Cunningham and Aidan Matthews.
Visitation for Mr. Matthews is scheduled for Thursday, July 21, from 5-7 p.m. at Welch Funeral Home in Starkville. 
Funeral services are Friday, July 22, at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Starkville. Burial will be in Oddfellows Cemetery.
