AFTERNOON BLAZE

July 7, 2011

Volunteer firefighters from District 5 and Central Volunteer Fire Departments responded to a house fire at approximately 3:55 p.m. Thursday on Andrews Lane, a dead-end area off of Williams Road south of Starkville. Pictured, first responders attempt to extinguish the blaze early on during the firefight. Oktibbeha Volunteer Fire Services Coordinator Kirk Rosenhan said a 911 call was placed by one of the occupants while another was believed to be asleep. Both occupants safely evacuated the house, but Rosenhan said the house was a total loss. Two vehicles parked at the residence were also severely damaged in the afternoon blaze.
