Mr. Roy L. Sharp, 67, of Sturgis passed away on Thursday, June 16, 2011, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Visitation will be at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home on Saturday, June 18, from 9 a.m. until service time. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 18, at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wayne Sanders officiating. Interment will follow in Bethel Methodist Cemetery in Oktibbeha County. he was born November 12, 1943, to Willie Ervin and Nellie Wylie Sharp. Mr. Sharp, a retired logger, was a member of Bethel Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Vickers Sharp of Sturgis; one daughter, Sonja Massey, and husband, Sid, of Noxapater; one son, Scott Sharp, and wife, Kelly, of Sturgis; one sister, Janie Sharp Trulove, and husband, Dwight, of West Point; and six grandchildren: Drew Massey, Aubrey Massey Manning, Brooke Massey, Kevin Sharp, Rachel Sharp, and John Ethan Sharp. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Ervin and Nellie Whylie Sharp, and a brother, Bobby Charles Sharp.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Sharp, John Ethan Sharp, Drew Massey, Bruce Manning, James Marshall "Bachie" Vickers, Troy Vickers, and Dwight Trulove.
