For Starkville Daily News

With its sprawling buildings and interesting architecture, Premier Health Complex looks little like its true purpose – an advanced healthcare complex providing medical services unique to the area.
Located at the corner of Highway 182 and Stark Rd., Premier Health Complex houses a variety of medical services that focus on the care of people of all ages.
Cancer Care at Premier Health Complex is a comprehensive cancer treatment facility that offers patients a new approach to cancer treatment. The center, the latest addition to the complex, is the area’s first stand-alone comprehensive cancer treatment facility and houses clinics for medical oncology provided by Hematology & Oncology Associates and radiation therapy services supplied by Radiation Oncology of North Mississippi.
Hematology & Oncology Associates is the region’s leading oncology group with the following physicians: Charles Montgomery, M.D.; Julian Hill, M.D.; Andrew Kellum, M.D.; Christopher Croot, M.D.; David Morris, M.D.; Gideon Ewing, M.D.. They have offices in Tupelo, which is their main location, as well as Starkville and Corinth.
Services include chemotherapy, lab services, and access to clinical trials for new treatment therapies or modalities and other cancer and blood-related disorder treatments.
The outpatient cancer center eliminates the need to travel long distances to receive comparable cancer treatment and follow up. The center houses cancer services — hematology and oncology physicians, lab tests, advanced imaging, chemotherapy and radiation treatment — under one roof so patients no longer have to travel from place to place.
Radiation treatment for patients in Starkville, Tupelo, and Corinth is provided through Radiation Oncology of North Mississippi, comprised of Bert Duncan, M.D., Ray Reed, M.D., and Micah Monaghan, M.D.Cancer Care’s Varian IX Linear Accelerator is equipped with highly advanced technology— intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), On-Board Imaging, and RapidArc. Each of these advanced applications work together to make sure the radiation dose is delivered as accurately and quickly as possible. For instance, RapidArc technology enables completion of a treatment that used to take 15-20 minutes in as little as two minutes. This means that patients receive minimal radiation exposure to normal tissue, less chance of side effects, and better outcomes for their treatment. Cancer Care is open Monday - Friday. For questions, call Hematology & Oncology Associates at (662) 320-8545 and Radiation Oncology of North Mississippi at (662) 320-2273.

Advanced radiology services are the backbone of many healthcare services.
The more technologically advanced the radiology equipment, the more detail can be seen by the radiologist. This provides the physician with information to develop a proper treatment plan for patients.
The advanced equipment at Premier Imaging includes a 3 Tesla MRI, 64-slice CT, 4-D Ultrasound as well as Fluoroscopy and X-ray services.Premier Imaging offers these advanced radiology services with a unique approach to patient comfort and convenience such as same day or next day appointments, shorter wait times for exams, and ample parking close to the entrance.
Premier Imaging exams are interpreted by board certified radiologists with Premier Radiology – a group of physicians comprised of radiologists with specialized training in Neuroradiology, Musculoskeletal Radiology, Interventional and Vascular Radiology; Cardiac Imaging; and MRI/Body Imaging.
Together with the advanced imaging available at Premier Imaging, these physicians offer patients access to highly specialized tests in one convenient location. For more information, call (662) 320-6800.
Premier Health Complex not only houses healthcare options for area residents, but it also partners with Mississippi State University in pursuit of academic excellence. MSU faculty and students have the opportunity to use the technology, equipment and professional medical expertise available at the complex to further their learning and research initiatives.
