Mike Conner Thornton

Mike Conner “Red” Thornton, 79, passed away March 11, 2011, at his residence in Mathiston.
Mr. Thornton was born November 16, 1931, in Starkville to the late Arther Green and Cluffie Myrtle Thornton.
He was a retired contractor.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Irene Messeck, and brother, Shade Thornton.
He is survived by wife of 50 years Jean Card Thorton; daughters, Joanie (Charles) Harper of Mathiston, Regina (Scott) Huffman of Caledonia; grandsons Joshua (Sally) Huffman of Wavarre Fla., Charles Harper II of Mathiston (special friend Carmen VinZant of Brandon) and favorite niece, Karne “Woodie” Cook.
His sense of humor and stories of the many “shenanigans” he pulled during his lifetime will be missed by all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
