With the likelihood of heavy rain looming, Mississippi State University officials have pushed today's scheduled celebration of the institution's founding to Tuesday.
The new plan calls for the party to take place in the Junction from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday. Complimentary hamburgers, chips, ice cream, soft drinks and birthday cake will be served as supplies last, MSU officials said in a statement.
Plus, local band Big Poppa Strang will play and people will fling T-shirts from the stage.
No formal program exists for the party, officials said, adding that everyone whose schedule allows is invited to drop by.
Cadence Bank is the corporate sponsor and Music Maker Productions is the band sponsor.
