West Point â€” Garland E. Wray, 82, passed away, Friday, Feb. 11, 2011 at the Dugan Memorial Home in West Point.
Mr. Wray was born April 24, 1928 in Oktibbeha County Mississippi to the late Osie Lummus and Leonard Sygang Wray, Sr. He worked as an Auto Mechanic, and was Owner and Operator of Wrayâ€™s Garage and Service Station for 42 years. Garland Wray was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, also as Sunday School Superintendant over the years. He was Election Commissioner for Clay County for number of years. He was a Veteran of Army National Guard during Korean War serving in the â€śDixie Divisionâ€ť 932nd F A Btn 31st ID.
Garland E. Wray married Beulah Blankenship Wray on August 18, 1948, in Rev. Davenportâ€™s home in Noxapater.
Brothers, William C. Wray and Marion L. Wray, also predeceased Mr. Wray.
Funeral services will be Sunday, Feb. 13, 2011 at 2 p.m. from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with the Dr. James Towery officiating, assisted by Rev. Roy Myers. Burial will follow in Memorial Garden Cemetery in West Point. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include wife Beulah Blankenship Wray of West Point; his daughter, Vickie Hixon (Stu) of Woodstock, Ga.; his son, Bill Wray (Jan) of West Point; five grandchildren; Angie Thompson (Brett), Brad Wray, Corey Wray, Shelby Hixon and Leah Hixon; two great grandchildren; Brandon Wray Thompson and Carson Hughes Thompson; one brother, Leonard S. Wray, Jr. (Martha) of Starkville.
Pallbearers will be Brad Wray, Corey Wray, Brett Thompson, Terry Cox, Virgil Bolin, Lynwood Prescott, Jerry Mize, and Robert Miller.
Honorary Pallbearers will be The Silver Thin Haired Sunday School Class, â€śDixie Divisionâ€ť 932nd F A Btn 31st ID, Dugan Memorial Home Staff, Dr. Edmund A. Miller, Jr., and Dr. T. N. Braddock.

Visitation will be Sunday, 12:30 p.m until service time at Calvert Funeral Home.
