Supes to strategize with less than a year left

While some hopeful supervisors have already begun campaigning, Oktibbeha County’s board president will propose today a strategic plan.
District 3 Supervisor Marvell Howard said Sunday he invited a professional consultant group to make a presentation to the other four board members on developing goals for the county - short term and long term.
When asked if he had goals of his own, Howard said, “Goal - that’s broad statement. We want to continue to make sure Oktibbeha County is one of the leading counties in the state of Mississippi in economic development and education.”
In January of 2010, the The City of Starkville Board of Aldermen developed a strategic plan of their own after being in office half a year.
They adopted a year-end revision last week.
“Developing a strategic plan will take a while,” Howard said, “but hopefully we’ll begin the process.”
Possible aims include creating a website for the county and “dealing with finances,” Howard added.
Additionally, the Board of Supervisors will discuss the feasibility of setting aside space for a drug court, an idea proposed by Oktibbeha County Circuit Court Judge Lee Howard, District 2 Supervisor Orlando Trainer said.
The board will meet at 10 a.m. in the second floor of the Oktibbeha County Courthouse on Main Street.
