GRACEVILLE, Fla. — The funeral for Peggy Sue Oswalt will be held today at 11 a.m. at the Chapel of James & Lipford Funeral Home with burial in Damascus Cemetery. The Rev. Dr. Jerry Oswalt and Dr. Ed Lyrene will officiate.
Oswalt, a resident of Graceville, was born in Starkville on April 19, 1948. She died on Feb. 1, 2011.
Attending public schools in her hometown, she later pursued higher education at Mobile College in Mobile, Ala. (now the University of Mobile). A member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, she spent most of her life in Bay Minette, Robertsdale and Gulf Shores, Ala.
She was a member of Miflin Baptist Church in Foley, Ala. for many years, where she enjoyed helping with the church library. She is preceded in death by her mother, Clarice Johnston Oswalt and her father, Valter Hayes Oswalt, and her sister-in-law, Shelvie Hornsby Oswalt.
She is survived by her sister, Rita Oswalt of Gulf Shores, Ala.; brother, Jerry (Grace) Oswalt of Graceville, Fla.; niece, Deborah (Brent) Jones and her daughters, Lauren, Ashleigh and Brittany, all of Bonifay, Fla.; nephew, David (Stephanie) Oswalt and his daughter, Sophia, all of Dothan, Ala.
The family received friends Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at James & Lipford Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.
