Starkville gets past Columbus

COLUMBUS – Gavin Ware notched a double-double to lead Starkville to a 62-55 win in overtime over Columbus.
The Yellowjackets (14-6, 3-2 in Class 6A, Region 2) outscored the Falcons 11-4 in the extra frame to pick up the victory.
Ware led Starkville with 15 points while also contributing 10 rebounds and four blocks.
Steven Brand tallied 14 points for the Jackets with eight coming in overtime.
Mike Brand poured in 10 points.
Starkville's win earned a split with Columbus, as the Lady Falcons defeated the Lady Jackets earlier in the night.
The loss drops the Lady Jackets to 5-15 overall and 1-4 in Class 6A, Region 2.
Both Starkville squads return to action on Friday at South Panola.
