SDN Staff Reports
There were corgis and collies, pomeranians and poodles, spaniels and Siberian huskies.
In fact, in and around the Mississippi Horse Parkâs indoor arena, one could find plenty of dogs to see on the first day of the Golden Triangle Kennel Club of Mississippiâs annual dog show licensed by the American Kennel Club â 450 dogs representing some 200 breeds, to be exact.
The dogs and their owners were there to compete in several competitive events and to win the coveted âBest in Showâ award.
States represented at the show include Missouri, Ohio, California, Tennessee, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Louisiana, Arkansas, Texas, Iowa, Illinois, Kentucky, Indiana and Oklahoma.
This weekendâs dog show â which continues beginning about 8 a.m. today at the Horse Park â also features several dog-related merchandise vendors.
Spectators will be able to watch the dog show action either in the stands or on chairs that will be set up on the arena floor. Spectator admission to the event is free both days.
GTKCM members will be making available additional information for those dog owners who are interested in responsible ownership. âThe GTKCM will also provide canine owners with information about the club, its puppy and dog obedience, rally and agility classes, and conformation classes which are conducted locally, during evening hours, generally on the MSU campus.
