The funeral for Patricia Ann Purnell will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Second Baptist M.B. Church with burial in Memorial Gardens.
The Rev. Joseph Stone will officiate.
Visitation will be today from 12 to 6 p.m. at West Memorial Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Purnell, 67, died on Thursday, December 9, 2010 at her home in Starkville.
She was born in Carroll County and of the Baptist faith.
Patricia attended W.C. Henderson High School where she was a member of the graduating class of 1962. She later became a domestic worker, working for 25 years at St. Joseph Catholic Church. After retiring from St. Joseph, she worked for Mississippi State University until her health forced her to retire in 1998.Â
She leaves to cherish her memories two children, Rufus L. (Veronica) Purnell of Clinton and Suzzietta Dear-Swan of Starkville; four grandchildren, Kenya (Desmond) Dear-Allen of Jackson, De Marcus Swan of Starkville, Joshua Fisher and Victoria Purnell of Clinton; a loving step-mother, Mary Purnell of Starkville; four sisters, Winnie Ruth Morris, Gaile P. Smith, Brenda (Bobby)Young all of Starkville and Cynthia (James) Garner of Pine Bluff, Ark.; a brother, Turner (Danette) Purnell Jr. of Starkville; three step-sisters, Beverly Ann (the Rev. Clyde Poole) Poole, Linda Bonner (the Rev. Sam Bonner) both of Starkville and Rebecca (Marcus) Foster of Tupelo; six step-brothers, Randolph (Vanessa) Calmes and Ricky (Darnella) Calmes all of Starkville, the Rev. Calvin (Camille) Calmes of Atlanta, Ga., Arthur (Lynn) Calmes of Maben; John Calmes of Florida and Melvin (Barbara) Calmes of Tupelo; three uncles, David (Hilda) Purnell of Lansing, Mich., the Rev. Randolph (Vera) Purnell of Chicago, Ill., the Rev. Louis Purnell of Grenada; three aunts, Mary Billings of Starkville; Christine Willis of Chicago, Ill.; and Mary Annette Purnell of Winona; a very special extended family, Kathleen and Joe Monti.
