A Starkville-based developer earned two awards from a state organization last month, officials said.
The Home Builders Association of Mississippi recently announced the winners of its 16th annual Best in Mississippi Awards held Nov. 17 at the Hilton in Jackson.
Entries from around the state were submitted and a confidential panel of five judges consisting of a builder, an architect, an educator in a construction–related field and two at-large made the selections.
Jeremy Tabor of Tabor Construction and Development in Starkville took home awards in two categories – Best Multifamily New Construction Under 50 Units and Best Commercial Building Remodel. Belle Grove Condominiums in Starkville took top honors for the first award.
Tabor’s completion of 15 units of upscale condominiums located near Mississippi State University were varied among three building styles with four entertainment-friendly floor plans, each with unique finish detail, officials said.
The Entresol building mimics The Pontalba in New Orleans, America’s oldest apartments. A five-tier iron fountain highlights the courtyard in French Quarter style, drawing guests outdoors for community entertaining.
Central Station in Starkville garnered Tabor the second award. Once a dairy production plant, Tabor turned this facility into a gem of commercial activity with a retail storefront while showcasing architectural elements of the original plant construction.
The two-year, two-phase transformation began with a structure featuring great bones in a prime downtown location and ended with the continued successful operation of a climate control storage facility and three new businesses — a vintage-looking bike shop, a unique interior design boutique and an impressive full-service restaurant, officials said.
