In addition to all of the shopping and preparations, church and family events, Starkville is still buzzing with activities for the holidays.
â€˘ Today, the Oktibbeha County Extension Service will host a special holiday luncheon for public officials. As part of the celebration, the office will host an Open House event for the community. The Annual Oktibbeha Extension Service Open House will be held from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. today, at the Oktibbeha County Extension Office.
â€˘ The 12 Days of Christmas events continue this week as a fund-raiser for OSERVS. Today at 11 a.m., Three Generationsâ€™ hostess and historian Paige Lawes will discuss the historic origin of many American Christmas traditions. On Tuesday at 11 a.m., members of the Starkville Community Theatre will share a â€śMerry Christmas Reading.â€ť On Wednesday at 11 a.m., Starkville Daily News Managing Editor Brian Hawkins will share â€śmerry tunes to delight you heart.â€ť Thursday at 11 a.m. is an open date for a Christmas luncheon or bridge party. Friday at 11 a.m., Madeline Golden, Bruce Lesley and Lyle Tate will entertain the crowd. And on Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m., Becky Kelly will play Christmas music on her mountain dulcimer to end the event. Reservations must be made in advance by calling Three Generations Tea Room at 324-1507.
â€˘ Marilyn Eppersonâ€™s Franklin Mint angel dolls will be on display at the Oktibbeha County Heritage Museum on display during December.
The museum is open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, 1 to 4 p.m. A special Saturday opening will be held on Dec. 18, from 2 to 4 p.m. The Heritage Museum is located at 206 Fellowship St. in Starkville. Admission is free.

â€˘ Then on Sunday, travel over to West Point for the West Point Candlelight Tour of Homes from 4 to 7 p.m. Tour seven homes lovingly decorated for Christmas along West Pointâ€™s Main Street. The tour ends at Palette Panache on Commerce Street for delicious hors dâ€™oeuvres. Tickets are $20 through Saturday available at the Growth Alliance and downtown shops and $25 Sunday at any home on tour. Plenty of parking and convenient trolley rides available.
