Academic All-Star

November 20, 2010

East Oktibbeha County Elementary sixth grader John Neal Jr. is a well-rounded student and this week’s academic all-star.
“This is John’s first year at East Oktibbeha County Elementary School but it did not take long for us to see what an asset he was for the student body,” Principal Yolanda Magee said. “Not only is John intelligent, but he is also a very kind, considerate person.”
John is a straight-A student who enjoys math class.
“Math is my favorite subject,” John said. “I like to solve problems and see if I can get the right answers.”
Even as a sixth grader, John already understands the value of his education.
“I want to learn to have a better education,” John said. “With a good education, I will be able to get a better job and make a good living.”
“John sets an example for the other students. He is very conscientious about his school work,” Magee said. “He strives to be his best and gets along well with the other students.”
In addition to academics, John also excels at sports like basketball and football. He is a member of his school’s basketball team.
“I would love to be a football player or a basketball player when I grow up,” he said. “If that does not work out, I could do something that involved numbers.”
John is the son of Tionaya Watt and John Neal, Sr.
