Local short-story author Becky Hagenston will share stories and insights into her second book, “Strange Weather,” as part of today’s Books and Author’s program.
The event is set for noon today at the Starkville Public Library.
Friends of the Library members will be serving light refreshments and visitors are encouraged to bring their lunch into the library and enjoy today’s presentation.
Page Leftwich, a member of the Friends of the Starkville Library, said Hagenston’s characters, like the weather, are unpredictable, and may in turn surprise, shock and delight readers of her short stories.
Hagenston will be presenting her second book, “Strange Weather,” the winner of the 2009 Spokane Prize for Short Fiction.
Originally from Maryland, Hagenston is an associate professor of English at Mississippi State University and lives in Starkville with her husband, Troy DeRego.
Today’s event is sponsored by the Friends of the Starkville Public Library.
Autographed copies of Hagenston’s books will be available for purchase at today’s program.
