SHS hopeful football field will be ready soon

August 13, 2014

Starkville School District Superintendent Lewis Holloway reported at the SSD Board of Trustees meeting Tuesday that he was hopeful that repairs on Starkvillle High School’s football field would finish in time for the football season’s start Aug. 22.

A summer storm created soft spots in the field surface, initially preventing field turf from being laid. He said the repairs were running from the middle of the field outward and had reached each of the 35-yard lines, reaching a total of 30 percent of the field.
