Putting on the pads and jerseys early on a Saturday morning can signal only one thing – high school football season is around the corner.
"It means it is here," Starkville High quarterback Brady Davis said. "It is time to start and we are ready to get this season rolling."
Davis and his teammates lined up for a scrimmage on Saturday and it seems as though the athletes are not the only ones anticipating Yellowjacket football. As the boys took the field, a crowd of about 200 spectators gathered to watch their team's preparations.
"This has grown every year," SHS coach Jamie Mitchell said. "You have a couple hundred people here. That just goes to show the excitement about our football program."
