City will fund industrial park - Motion to enter purchase agreement with Cadence fails

When Golden Triangle Development LINK CEO Joe Max Higgins walked into Starkville City Hall Tuesday evening, he needed $5 million. After his hour-long presentation to Starkville’s Board of Aldermen, all he needed was a place to sit down and catch his breath.

Starkville aldermen voted 6-1 Tuesday to fund its half of a $10-million Innovation District where the LINK intends to draw manufacturing jobs in Oktibbeha County. The county Board of Supervisors voted 4-1 Monday to fund its half.
