Bulldogs release non-league basketball slate

July 23, 2014

Mississippi State announced its 2014-15 non-conference basketball schedule on Wednesday and it featured several good matchups.
The Bulldogs will play 13 games, including eight home games and a matchup with South Carolina Upstate on Dec. 20 in Jackson. MSU will also play an exhibition game against Delta State on Nov. 6.
The season opens with a home game against Western Carolina at 5:30 p.m. in Humphrey Coliseum.
The highlights of the non-conference schedule are a home game against Utah State on Nov. 22, the football team host Vanderbilt that day, but no game time has been announced, a road game at Oregon State on Dec. 13 and a home game against Florida State on Jan. 2.
“Our non-conference schedule is an indication of the direction of our program,” MSU head coach Rick Ray said in a school release. “As our team matures and our talent level increases, our schedule reflects the belief in my team to accept bigger and better challenges. I also want to provide a great fan experience by having a team of the caliber of Florida State come in and play in The Hump. This schedule will not only prepare us for the SEC but also prepare us to have success in the SEC.”
