The Starkville Academy fast pitch softball team could be considered "the girls of summer."
Before the calendar even has the chance to flip from July to August, the Lady Volunteers will break out the bats and softballs for another season.
On Friday, Starkville Academy will open the 2014 season by welcoming Oak Hill to town and after the last couple of years of being young, coach Kayla Mosley is ready to put the excuses behind her team.
“We have been saying for the last couple of years ‘we are young, we are young’ and we have had young players, but they are all experienced now so we are ready to play,” Mosley said. “They have all seen playing time and I hope that experience will pay off for them and us.”
