Wait and see attitude: Jackets hopeful work on stadium finishes on time

July 22, 2014

There remains much work to do on Starkville High School's Yellowjacket Stadium, but the hope is for it to be ready before the season-opener against Noxubee County on August 23. Wait and see.
That is basically where Starkville High stands on the progress of their football field and new track surface. With an August 22 deadline looming, it can be discouraging to drive by and see construction equipment sitting at a standstill, but athletic director Dr. Stan Miller says the plan is "to move forward."
“The board has taken no action at all,” Miller said. “We are not going to do a change order. We are asking the contractor (Clear River Construction out of Flowood) to get back on the job and we are moving along in hopes that the contractor gets back on the job and we can meet the August 22 deadline of that Noxubee County game.”
