Christopher Lampkin slipped into eternal Rest on Friday, July 4, 2014. He was born on November 23, 1963 to the late Lula Hudgins and Robert Lampkin, Sr. Memorial Services will be held 11:00 A. M.., Saturday July 19, 2014 at Boyd Chapel U. M. Church on Sturgis-Louisville Road, Sturgis, MS.
Chris was a 1981 graduate of Sturgis High School. He later attended Holmes Jr. College where he met and married Carolyn Burns. Three children were born to that union. Chris was a member of Pentecostal True Holiness C.O.G.I.C., now Faith Temple under the leadership of his father, Elder Robert Lampkin.
Chris relocated to Los Angeles, CA in the 1990 where he pursued a career in security. He held several security positions. He was employed with Central Plaza Hotel as Director of Security until his health failed. Chris enjoyed spending time with his family, taking driving trips, collecting comic books, riding motorcycles, playing with remote control cars, and marveling over classic cars. He also enjoyed spending time with his German Shepherd, Felony.
Chris was preceded in death by his mother Lula Hudgins Lampkin; his brothers, Robert Jr. And Warren Lampkin; his maternal grandparents, Earlie and Emma Hudgins; paternal grandparents, Tom and Magnolia Lampkin; and his brother in law, Jackie McCorvey. He leaves precious memories to his wife, Susan Lampkin of Los Angeles, CA; three daughters, Brittini Lampkin and Keishiana Lampkin of Alexandria, LA and Jasmin Lampkin of Los Angeles, CA; one son, Marques Burns of Phoenix, AR; one grandson, Kash Quatrell Lampkin of Alexandria, LA; two step children, Angel and C.J. Encarnacion of Los Angeles, CA. He is also survived by his father, Robert Lampkin, Sr.; two sisters, Renee Jenkins ( John Bevill) of Starkville, MS and Veronica McCorvey of Moss Point, MS; two brothers, Robbie Lampkin of Senatobia, MS and Vincent Lampkin of Jackson, MS. He is also survived by his former wife, Carolyn Burns Lampkin, a special cousin, Brenda "Cookie" Jackson and his sister in law, Miriam Lampkin. He leaves behind four nieces, Alexis, Chelsie, Traci, and Ashley; six nephews, J.J., Jamari, Jayden, Warren, Anthony, and Chris; godmother, Joann " Bay" Thompson; god brothers, Calvin, Craig, Keith, and Metric Thompson, and god sisters, Regina Thompson and Sharon Mitchell. He also leaves behind four aunts, Elizabeth Yarbrough, Susie Dickerson, Gladys Weatherly, and Virginia Holder. Among Chris's closest friends were Walter Smith, Kirby Jackson, Keenum Davis, Curt Jordan, and Albert Solano, and a host of other close relatives and friends.
