SPD arrests suspect in officer assault

Starkville Police Department officers arrested a resident who reportedly fired shots at them early Thursday morning, averting injuries on either side.

SPD Chief Frank Nichols said Chadwick Lee Eaves lives at 271 Reed Road with his mother. At 3:30 a.m. Thursday, officers responded to a report from another relative that Eaves exhibited possible signs of mental illness and possessed a gun.
