SPRD establishes all-star softball teams

June 30, 2014

Youth sports are all about keeping up with the current trends.
Starkville Parks and Recreation is no exception to that as in recent years the move to fastpitch rather than slowpitch was made in softball.
Continuing with that trend, the SPRD built upon the program this year by adding in an all-star component at the end of the season.
“This addition definitely gives those girls that are looking for a more competitive league the opportunity to keep playing once the recreational league ends,” SPRD sport coordinator William Pochop said. “We gaged the need for it by polling participating parents to see who would be interested. The majority indicated a need and most of those that wanted to play had daughters who had the skills to play.”
