Luke Altmyer showed on Thursday that he could help the Swing with his defense and offense.
After throwing out a Southern Rock runner at the plate to end an inning, Altmyer had a pair of triples with one driving in a run as the Swing held on for a 5-4 victory at the United States Sports Specialty Association 11-year-old State Tournament in Class AAA.
"He's been coming on, especially the last two tournaments," Swing coach Sean Owen said of Altmyer. "He's really hitting the ball hard. On the play at the plate, it's 50-50. You are a 11-year-old and you roll the dice a little bit and see what happens, but his attitude is so great that he just does what the coaches say to do and keeps on trucking."
