Youth baseball will add some excitement in town this weekend.
Beginning today, Starkville will serve as host to the United States Specialty Sports Association 11-Under State championships.
In total, 55 teams will converge on the Golden Triangle area, which tournament director Mike Narmour says is sure to directly impact the entire Starkville community.
“Tournaments like this greatly benefit the community,” Narmour said. “From hotels to restaurants to grocery stores to even gas stations, everyone is affected in some way."
On top of the impact to the town, tournaments such as this require a great deal of preparation and work to get the fields ready to play, but in the end, getting to see the athletes and their families enjoying the tournament makes it all worth it.
