Man gunned down in Starkville - Police investigating afternoon shooting at Louisville Street apartment complex

Starkville Police Department officers kept watch by the edge of the crime scene as the department investigated a reported shooting incident at Louisville Street Apartments on Wednesday.

A Starkville man is dead after a reported shooting Wednesday afternoon at the Louisville Street Apartments.

Oktibbeha County Coroner Michael Hunt confirmed to Starkville Daily News that 27-year-old Tyrell Gillespie died of apparent gunshot wounds he sustained during the reported incident. Hunt pronounced Gillespie dead at the scene, and his body will be sent to the Mississippi Crime Lab in Jackson for an autopsy.
