Starkville High School theater teacher Jessica Price spotted an early indicator of Mary Kate Hughes’ chances to win a shot at Broadway.

Hughes was one of 11 finalists in Break Into Broadway, a competition organized by Stagelighter for the right to meet six top Broadway casting directors. Facebook users could vote through Sunday on which finalist they wanted to win based on videos of their performances, but while Price was trying to build Hughes’ voter base, she investigated the statistical breakdown for the amount of “Likes” Stagelighter had on Facebook. As of Wednesday, that breakdown says Stagelighter is more popular in Starkville than in any other city.
