Sports no longer exist within the confines of a single season.
Days when athletes enjoyed competing for a marked period of time then spent the offseason training, conditioning and even relaxing a bit are a thing of the past.
One local athlete knows this all too well as not only does Alexyia Turner play soccer for Starkville High School, but is also a member of the Birmingham United Soccer Association (BUSA) along with being ranked on the Top Drawer Soccer 2015 South Rankings of Players to Watch.
“Alexyia used to live in Starkville then they moved to Kentucky and through all this, she continued to play soccer,” SHS coach Anna Albritton said. “We got her back her junior year and she also plays on a Select team out of Birmingham. We sort of share her with Birmingham and she was also selected as a Southern Regional player to watch.”
