Starkville Fire Department will resume providing a vital dive rescue service after a 5-year hiatus, thanks to a $19,400 donation from the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation.

Fire Chief Rodger Mann said the department provided diving services to the city, county and neighboring communities for a number of years. However, aging equipment forced the department to stop the program.
