Championships are best when they are shared with friends.
That's what Noa Hardin, Alex Mazzola and Megan Moorhead experienced over the weekend as the trio of soccer players from Starkville helped the TFC96 girls team capture the Under-18 Division I State championship in Gulfport.
With the win, TFC96 moves on to represent Mississippi at the Region III Tournament in Baton Rouge, La., on June 19-26.
Hardin has played with Moorhead since they were 4-years-old and with Mazzola since they were 6-years-old.
To be able to share this success after being teammates for so long has been a rewarding experience.
"It's been a long journey for us and it's been fun," Hardin said. "Alex, Megan and I all went to state when we were 10-years-old and that's when we played for SYSO, which is now SSA. We won and that was the last time we had been to state. I haven't been back since then, so it's been a long road."
