LAFAYETTE, La. – Ross Mitchell has had his few shares of struggles this season, but he has lasted at least 4 1/3 innings.
He didn't get that far Sunday night.
The Mississippi State left hander tossed just three innings in a 14-8 loss to Louisiana-Lafayette in the Lafayette Regional.
Mitchell went 4 1/3 against Texas A&M earlier in the season.
The junior gave up six runs on seven hits in the short outing. He walked one batter and did not register a strikeout. He threw just 63 pitches and only 36 strikes.
Mitchell was an All-Southeastern Conference second team selection after winning eight games.
