The San Diego State Aztec baseball team has had a good bit on its mind the last month.
Head coach Tony Gwynn has been on a leave of absence while recovering from cancer treatment.
The 15-time Major League Baseball All-Star will more than likely not make the trip with the Aztecs to Lafayette, La., this weekend for a NCAA regional.
"We're just praying for him and trying to make sure that we hear about how he's doing," SDSU sophomore pitcher Bubba Derby said in a press conference on Tuesday. "We're out here grinding for him every day. We know that he wants to come back with us and we want nothing more than that. Everything we do on the field is for him."
