MABEN – The West Oktibbeha Timberwolves had to cut spring football practice short because of state testing.
Knowing that academics comes first for the students, West Oktibbeha coach Danny Crawford didn't want football to be a distraction.
The Timberwolves came to their coach following the tests and asked when they could get back on the practice field.
It was the type of enthusiasm that Crawford liked to see out of his players.
Crawford has set up a weight program that will give the Timberwolves a way to improve over the summer months.
"We'll start the first of June and we'll go all summer," Crawford said. "That's going to be our main focus. We'll probably be lifting weights in the afternoon three days a week. I want to get the kids stronger and learn their position first before they can get on the field and compete."
