HOOVER, Ala. – The Mississippi State Bulldogs got to see why the Florida Gators won the Southeastern Conference regular season championship.
The No. 17 Bulldogs were eliminated from the SEC Tournament by the top-seeded Gators 5-1 Friday night.
"I thought the difference in this ballgame was they defended well and we didn't," MSU head coach John Cohen said, whose team had two errors to Florida's none.
No. 11 Florida (39-20) will move on to face Kentucky today in a single-elimination semifinal. The other game will feature LSU and Arkansas, which knocked off Ole Miss to advance.
The Bulldogs (37-22) will have to wait until Monday to find out where they will be for the NCAA Tournament. Host sites will be announced late Sunday night, but MSU does not anticipate getting that privilege this year.
