HOOVER, Ala. – John Cohen never would have believed that Lucas Laster would start a postseason game for Mississippi State this year during fall ball.
The Bulldog head coach watched the left hander in the fall and wasn't that impressed.
But pitching coach Butch Thompson kept working with him into the spring and kept bringing his name up to Cohen.
"Every time we had a meeting (Thompson would) say 'hey we've got to get Laster in the game, (and) we need to get him going,'" Cohen said. "I kept saying 'the guy in the fall that couldn't get anybody out?'"
