Starkville Academy girls basketball coach Glenn Schmidt was very proud to say that she crossed paths with Jerry Henderson.
A veteran of 38 years of coaching now herself, Schmidt credits much of her philosophy and where she is today because of the life lessons that Henderson taught her.
Henderson, who made Starkville his home for the past several years, passed away on Saturday after battling cancer. He was 72.
Schmidt played basketball for Henderson at Madison-Ridgeland Public School from 1968-72, but she learned more from him than just the game.
