East Webster within one victory of 2A title

RIDGELAND – Jennah Pate collected three hits, sparking the East Webster Lady Wolverines to a 3-2 victory in seven innings over Taylorsville on Friday at Freedom Ridge Park.
With the win, the Lady Wolverines are one more away from defending their Class 2A State fast pitch championship. The series continues with today's 10 a.m. encounter and if needed, a third game will follow.
East Webster, which improved its record to 29-2, relied on Bailie Springfield to eat up innings in the circle en route to the win. Springfield allowed no earned runs, six hits and no walks while striking out five over seven innings of work.
Pate singled in the third, fifth, and seventh innings for the Lady Wolverines.
Taylorsville pushed two runs across in the fourth inning to start the scoring. Taylorsville scored runs on a groundout by and an error.
