Piece of SHS in playoffs with Mitchell, Monaghan

May 14, 2014

Mitchell

For years, Starkville High has been known for strong baseball programs.
Never was that truer than when Danny Carlisle stood in the dugout as coach. Under his tutelage, Carlisle led many players to the postseason and even a few to championships. Now Carlisle has the privilege of watching two of his former players lead their own teams towards the state championship dream.
In Class 2A, Brad Mitchell has his Eupora Eagles set to face East Webster in the North Championship, while his former Starkville teammate Mark Monaghan’s Desoto Central Jaguars is set to play Tupelo in the Class 6A North Championship.
“I am going to tell you the thing about both of those young men is they are outstanding people,” Carlisle said. “They are doing the things the right way. They are teaching the kids not just baseball, but they are teaching life skills.”
