Mississippi State head coach John Cohen kept believing Saturday night that his Bulldogs were going to come through at the plate and push a game-winning run across.
The Bulldogs got the leadoff batter on in the sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth innings, but couldn't get a run across.
Seth Heck proved Cohen right as he delivered in the bottom the 10th inning with a single to score C.T. Bradford from third and gave the No. 18 Bulldogs a 1-0 victory over Tennessee.
"We did what we had to do to win a ballgame," Cohen said. "We got a little bit of good fortune, finally right there. The ball bounced over the third baseman's head and we'll certainly take it."
Bradford led the inning off with a double into the right field corner. He moved to third on a sacrifice bunt by Alex Detz. Tennessee pitcher Kyle Serrano intentionally walked Brett Pirtle bringing Heck to the plate.
