The Starkville High School Yellowjackets knew they had to put forth an extra effort if they wanted to stand out in Class 6A track and field.
“It is a little different, but that is one thing we established on day one when we had our meeting for outdoor,” SHS coach Steve Griffin said. “We are on a whole new level. We are in probably the toughest division there is in the state of Mississippi as far as track and field goes. We knew we had to come in and work every day to let them know we are back and we are here.”
Griffin and fellow coach Caroline Woomer was a little more anxious when it came to moving up a division, but seeing everyone so determined eased the process a little.
