East Webster holds on for a 4-3 win at Hatley

May 9, 2014

AMORY – Allowing just three runs on four hits, Bailie Springfield got the win as the East Webster Lady Wolverines defeated Hatley 4-3 Friday evening.
The Lady Wolverines took control of the game from the beginning as Autumn Frost provided a two-run home run in the top of the first.
From there, East Webster picked up runs from Springfield, who scored compliments of a Madison Flemings RBI single in the top of the third as well as from Kandler Flora, who made her way home via a Springfield sacrifice fly in the top of the sixth.
With the score standing 4-1 in favor of the Lady Wolverines, Hatley threatened in the bottom of the seventh as the team loaded the bases with no outs. In the end, two runs were scored, but it was not enough as East Webster claimed game one of the best of three North series.
Action between the Lady Wolverines and Hatley resumes today at 1 p.m. on Nikki Jones Memorial Field in Maben. Game three will follow should it be necessary.
