State baseball set to play final non-conference game of the regular season

The Mississippi State Bulldogs will see their final non-conference game of the regular season today.
MSU (28-17) hosts Jacksonville State (23-19) at Dudy Noble Field. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m.
Junior left-hander Lucas Laster (0-0, 3.27 ERA) is the expected starting pitcher for the Bulldogs, while the Gamecocks had not announced a starter at press time.Â
MSU, ranked at No. 28 by Collegiate Baseball, is coming off a weekend series loss to Texas A&M in Southeastern Conference play.Â
The Bulldogs are led at the plate by senior second baseman Brett Pirtle. He is batting .349 with 19 RBI, has a 14-game hitting streak and has reached base safely in 26-straight games overall. In the last five games, Pirtle is hitting .524 (11-for-21).
